Today, more than one in five adults in America experience a mental illness, and one-half of all chronic mental illness begins by the age of 14.* Despite this prevalence and pervasiveness, we still live in a world in which discussions about mental health and wellness are had only behind closed doors. To help advocate for this growing population and erase the stigma associated with mental illness, Dani Singer has made it her life’s mission to introduce alternative therapies that empower healing.
As a survivor of sexual abuse, bullying and domestic violence, Dani spent years struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, depression and anxiety. Determined not to let her past define her or her future, she dedicated time and energy to self-care, through which she developed a sense of inner strength and peace. Having participated in therapy both as an adolescent and adult, Dani decided to use her experiences to reach out and help others with similar life challenges.
In 2013, Dani became a licensed marriage and family therapist, and went on to earn her clinical license in 2016. In her private practice, she specializes in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), a technique that helps patients with trauma, PTSD and low self-esteem eliminate the distress and negative beliefs associated with traumatic memories, and one in which she has benefited from personally. The following year, she launched Therapy Threads, a concept that combines a holistic approach to health and wellness with an eye for fashion. Therapy Threads creates luxurious aromatherapy scarves that leverage the powerful connection between sense of smell and one’s emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Ultimately, wearers can wrap themselves in the comfort of a gorgeous, high-quality accessory while benefiting from the power of essential oils.
When she’s not treating patients, designing new products for the Therapy Threads line or participating in speaking engagements, Dani works to partner with local charities and organizations to provide resources and support within the mental health community. Ultimately, she is committed to helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds experience positive change, improve relationships, and gain a greater sense of personal strength and growth.
Dani is an avid yogi who recently earned her Registered Yoga Teacher (200 RYT®) certification. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family.
