Why Giving Tuesday Is Important to Therapy Threads

“Self-absorption in all its forms kills empathy, let alone compassion. When we focus on ourselves, our world contracts as our problems and preoccupations loom large. But when we focus on others, our world expands. Our own problems drift to the periphery of the mind and so seem smaller, and we increase our capacity for connection – or compassionate action.” -Daniel Goleman

Happy Giving Tuesday!

Hi everyone! Dani Singer here (founder of Therapy Threads, and psychotherapist). Sorry we haven’t been very active lately, I will share all the updates and developments that have been going on with Therapy Threads and myself, since May, in a later blog post.

As many of you know, today is a day of moving outside of ourselves, and giving to others. Giving Back is an important part of what Therapy Threads was founded on.

Therapy Threads is a conscious clothing line committed to creating conversations around mental health and general wellness that ultimately contribute to ending the stigma of mental illness one thread at a time.

This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, being in the field of mental health myself, as a therapist, and struggling with my own mental health issues (anxiety, depression, and PTSD that I will share more about in a later post as well, but you can read more about that in my bio, here, at the bottom).

Currently, one in four people has a mental illness. Yet everyone has mental health, and I encourage you to consider helping those you know and love improve this important aspect of their lives.

We donate 10% of our profits to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We also hope to team up with other mental health organizations, companies, and initiatives to give back even more.

We also strongly advocate donations go to AFSP, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, that is again, very strongly tied to mental health and illness.

Shoutout: We LOVE what Wear Your Label is doing, and I’ll admit, I’m constantly fangirling over them! Congrats on your recent partnership with NAMI, that is amazing!

Currently, our focus is on developing aromatherapy fashion scarves that provide wearers the opportunity to benefit from the combination of the accessories’ comfort and the essential oils used with the scarves. Because these products are compatible with any essential oil scent from any company and can be customized to the wearer’s needs, they make a fantastic gift option (including for yourself!). Together, we can work to break down the stigma associated with mental health while promoting health and healing in a beautiful way.

We are hoping the scarves can give back in a way too, as they provide comfort, relaxation, a mood boost, warmth, and good vibes to the wearer.

Now I would love to hear from you.

What are other unique ways you think Therapy Threads or Dani Singer can give back?  What about you? How do you give to others or your community? What ways would you like to see more companies, such as Therapy Threads, give back? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you in advance for reading, commenting and sharing with love, compassion and kindness. You help make our cozy corner of the world wide web an awesome place!

Sending love and healing,
